Primary prevention / Secondary prevention
It is important to understand what these terms mean and how they differ from one another.
Primary prevention
Primary prevention aims to prevent illnesses and health problems from occurring in the first place.
In my practice I place great emphasis on motivating you, through targeted measures and my advice, to adopt health-promoting behaviours in order to reduce the risk of disease.
Aspects such as a healthy diet, regular physical activity, stress management and avoiding risk factors play a decisive role here.
Secondary prevention
By contrast, secondary prevention deals with early detection and timely treatment of existing health problems.
The aim is to prevent the progression of diseases and to minimise their impact.
In my practice I place value on implementing individual early-detection measures to recognise diseases at an early stage and treat them appropriately.
Sports medicine
Sports medicine is another important area of my practice, concerned with promoting health and performance through exercise and sport.
Sports medicine includes the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of sports injuries as well as the optimisation of sporting performance. Although sports medicine focuses strongly on exercise and activity, it can also encompass elements of primary and secondary prevention, particularly when it comes to preventing sports injuries or managing health problems related to sport.
Commonalities
All of these approaches share the common goal of promoting your health and preventing disease or recognising it at an early stage. They complement one another by offering a holistic approach to your health, encompassing both preventative measures and individual care for existing health challenges.
Please feel free to ask me questions about this or any other topic.
I am happy to be available to support your health in the best possible way.
